Olivia Harrison, Barbara Bach Starkey, Linda McCartney and Yoko Ono were those who, in 1990, at Olivia Harrison’s initiative and with the help of the Beatles and Elton John, set up the Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation with the goal to increase the quality of life of the children abandoned in Romanian orphanages.
A number of artists from the music world and over 100 British volunteers contributed to raising the necessary funds to completely renovate and equip more than 20 orphanages, foster homes and hospital wards, while working directly with Romanian staff and helping them develop knowledge and skills necessary for the care and developing deficiencies recovery for institutionalized children.
Later, Angelo Moschino, the President of the Franco Moschino Foundation became one for the main supporters of the organization and his help was crucial for the scaling up of the medical, social and psychological services for children and families affected by HIV / AIDS.
Currently, the board members of Romanian Angel Appeal are:
Angelo Moschino – President of the Franco Moschino Foundation, Italy
Carlo Giaquinto, MD – Professor at the Padova University, Italy
James Parry – Management Expert, UK
